What changes can a cold towel experience if it absorbs too much or too little water

The cooling of cold towels mostly relies on the evaporation and heat absorption of water. The water absorption capacity and actual water content directly determine the evaporation rate. Excessive or insufficient water absorption will weaken the actual cold feeling and bring about changes in the feel of use.
1、 Low water absorption (poor water retention, insufficient moisture content)
1. After being soaked in water, towels retain less moisture and quickly evaporate, resulting in a short duration of coolness and a fleeting cooling effect; After the water evaporates, the towel becomes a dry cloth and no longer feels cold.
2. The fabric itself does not absorb enough water, and the sweat on the surface cannot be effectively absorbed. The accumulation of sweat on the surface can make it feel sticky.
3. If it is an auxiliary cold towel with too little moisture, the auxiliary cannot fully exert its effect, and the feeling of coolness is weak.
4. However, advantages: towels dry quickly, are not easily stuffy, do not drip easily, and are more refreshing to wear and use.
Attention: Water absorption does not refer to the dripping state. If the water absorption is too low, it means that the towel has poor water locking ability and retains less water after being wrung out.
2、 Excessive water absorption (strong water retention capacity, high water content)
1. The towel stores a large amount of moisture inside, causing the towel to weigh more and drip when worn or wiped, resulting in a poor user experience.
2. If there is too much water, the evaporation rate of water will actually decrease. A large amount of moisture envelops the fibers, making it difficult for air to circulate and reducing the efficiency of evaporation and heat dissipation, resulting in a less noticeable cold sensation; It only feels like a cold, damp sensation, not a sustained coolness caused by evaporation.
3. In a long-term high moisture state, the moisture inside the fabric is not easy to dissipate. In a hot and humid environment, towels are not easy to dry, which can easily breed odors and bacteria.
When applying to the skin, too much cold water can cause excessive local dampness and coldness; In a low temperature environment, there will be a bone chilling and uncomfortable feeling.
5. Repeated wet and dry cycles make highly absorbent fabrics more prone to fiber aging, loss of additives, and decreased cold durability.
Suitable water absorption range
It is necessary to balance water retention and breathability. Towels should be fully soaked in water, wrung out moderately, and have no free dripping. The fabric should retain an appropriate amount of moisture inside, allowing air to circulate and moisture to evaporate smoothly, in order to maintain a long-lasting and gentle cold feeling.
Excessive or insufficient water absorption, as well as a cold sensation, are all abnormal manifestations; Cold towels are evaporative cooling and have almost no cooling effect when completely dry.
