How to choose pet towels
Pet towels are mainly divided into two categories: ultra-fine fiber (coral fleece/chenille) and PVA imitation deer skin. It is not recommended to use pure cotton towels directly, as pure cotton absorbs water slowly and dries slowly, which can easily breed bacteria and cause pet skin problems.
1、 Distinguish the advantages and disadvantages of mainstream materials
- Ultra fine fibers (coral fleece, chenille)
Advantages: Soft to the touch, good wrapping, strong water absorption, machine washable, suitable for long haired cats and medium to large long haired dogs, can be fully wrapped and pressed to absorb water.
Disadvantage: It may stick to pet floating hair and requires hair cleaning after washing; Poor quality products are prone to shedding fluff.
Suitable for: Long haired pets, wrap and dry after bathing.
- PVA imitation deer skin (synthetic suede)
Advantages: High water absorption efficiency, almost non stick to hair, and can continue to be used after wringing out; After use and drying, it will become hard and less prone to mold and odor. It is frequently used in pet stores.
Disadvantages: It becomes hard in a dry state, can only be folded, cannot be bent hard, and is prone to cracking; The feel is slippery and not suitable for wrapping.
Suitable for: short haired cats and dogs, body wiping, foot pad wiping, portable for outdoor use.
2、 Core purchasing indicators
- Size matching body type
Small cat and dog: about 60 × 40cm;
Medium sized dog: 100 × 70cm;
Large long haired dog: 140 × 70cm plus size, convenient for complete body wrapping.
- Quality of workmanship
Ultra fine fibers depend on the weaving method to ensure they are dense and not prone to shedding, spinning, or shedding; Do not choose those with severe shedding of fluff, as fluff can easily be licked by pets.
The edge is neatly wrapped, the stitching is firm, and it is not easy to open after repeated washing.
No pungent odor, avoid inferior dyes, prioritize fabrics without formaldehyde and non irritating aromatic amines to protect pet skin.
- Choose based on pet hair type
Long haired cats and dogs: prioritize ultra-fine fiber coral fleece, wrap and press to absorb water, reduce hair tangles;
Short haired cats and dogs: PVA imitation deer skin, high wiping efficiency, and easier cleaning of floating fur.
- Additional functions can be selected as needed
Antibacterial products are suitable for multi pet families to reduce bacterial growth; The glove style is convenient for one handed wiping; Bathrobe style is suitable for pets who do not like to blow dry.
Tip: For antibacterial purposes, it is important to refer to a clear antibacterial test report, not just the promotional text.
3、 Pits to avoid
- Do not use ordinary pure cotton towels: they dry slowly and are prone to mold growth in humid environments, which can easily trigger skin diseases.
- Low price and low-quality PVA: easy to crack, fall off, and have a short service life.
- Do not choose fabrics with ultra-fine fibers that are too sparse, as they are prone to shedding hair.
4、 Usage and maintenance tips
- When wiping, mainly press to absorb water, do not rub vigorously back and forth to avoid hair tangling.
- Cleaning ultrafine fibers with fabric softeners is prohibited as they can clog fiber pores and significantly reduce water absorption capacity; Wash with low-temperature water and dry in a cool place to avoid damaging the fibers during high-temperature drying.
- After using PVA imitation deer skin, rinse it thoroughly, ventilate and dry it; Long term storage can be soaked in clean water and sealed to prevent drying and cracking.
- It is recommended to use multiple pets separately to avoid cross infection; The towel should be replaced promptly if it has a foul odor or poor water absorption.
